a true bears fan

this year's football season is rolling to an end. unfortunately the season for the bears has already come to an early close. like a true bears fan i must keep my spirits high & hope that next year will be different. one fan, my boy payton, is showing his true colors & keeping all of us bear fans excited for what the future may hold.

even as a die-hard bears fan i'm sad to see favre go. after 17-years in the NFL (16 years with the green bay packers & 1 year with the atlanta falcons (didn't know he was drafted by atlanta in '91 did ya?)) favre officially announced today (tuesday, march 4th) that he is retiring. for three off seasons now there has been talk of favre retiring. many people, including myself, thought he was crazy for coming back again this past season. then he surprises us all & takes the packers one game shy of the super bowl.

there are not a lot of favre like athletes left in the NFL. the NFL like so many other sporting institutions is being taken over by money & marketing. you've got to have cable now just to watch a monday night game (now on ESPN) or a sunday night game (now on TNT). with the introduction of the NFL network, you'll have to pay even extra to watch your home team on TV.

players bounce from team-to-team every few years chasing the dollar signs. endorsements are out of control too. almost every player dances in the end-zone now. hell i see a guy make a basic tackle & he celebrates like he just won a million dollars (maybe he did - so many contracts are tied to player stats). i miss watching players like walter payton who could score touch down after touch down & be humble about it.

i'll miss watching favre & the class he brought to the game. he's going out on top in my book. he's healthy, he proved that he can still lead a team, & he's leaving on his own terms.

hats off to the underdogs

a job well done to the NY giants tonight. i did not see this one coming. i’m happy for the giants & eli manning. this game is a good reminder for all of us to never give up. no matter how high the odds are stacked against us we have to keep on fighting until the end.

the giants played this entire super bowl game with that attitude & it paid off BIG time! my hats off to the entire NY giants team.

bikini fans

i'm surprised that i'm talking (blogging) so much about the green bay game too... it really was a disappointment. i mean, this is probably favre's last year & for them to go the super bowl against the patriots would have made for such good marketing & hype. how in the world did they loose at home in that crazy weather?

enough with the game, how about those bikini girl fans? did you miss seeing these girls on the camera yesterday? how nuts will fans get? is it really worth it to be on TV? my answer is yes!

for 2 minutes they probably froze their nipples off - literally ;). in that two minutes their faces, well their bodies, were seen by millions & now with all the web attention they've probably been viewed & talked about by hundreds of millions. granted, it's not the most respectable thing to be known for. of course, it wasn't like they were stripping - millions of women wear bathing suits everyday around pools & beaches. it's the cold weather aspect that makes it a "big deal." their stunt worked & they've created a lot of fun chatter & probably brought smiles to a lot of faces.

i suppose if fans are going to show off their bodies for the camera i prefer it be "bikini girls" versus the usual overweight fat man that's drinking his beer & eating a mouthful of chili dogs with his buddy.
